Community Safety & Wellness Family Fun Day- District 9

Dear Business Owners and Community Partners,

You spoke, and we listened.

Many of you have shared concerns about safety, disruptive behavior, and the challenges facing businesses in the East Liberty Business District. In response, we are proud to launch the District 9 Street Team—a new initiative designed to support businesses, connect with youth and families, and strengthen our community.

The District 9 Street Team, spearheaded by Councilman Mosely’s office and in cooperation with the Hear Foundation and the East Liberty Business Chamber, will provide businesses with a trusted community partner when challenges arise. When disruptive behavior occurs, you won't have to handle it alone. Our team will work alongside businesses to engage youth, de-escalate situations, connect families to resources, and help create a safer, more welcoming environment for customers, employees, and residents alike. Details on how this will happen will come out soon!

To celebrate this launch, we invite you to join us for our first community event in East Liberty on Broad Street June 27th from 1:00 PM–6:00 PM. The event will bring together businesses, families, community organizations, churches, and city leaders for an afternoon of music, activities, resources, and connection.

This initiative is about more than a single event—it is about creating a long-term partnership that proactively supports and protects our business district through ongoing collaboration with business owners, city officials, law enforcement, legislators, and community leaders to address the everyday challenges businesses face. Together, we can build an East Liberty where businesses are supported, young people are connected to opportunity, families are engaged, and everyone shares responsibility for creating a safe, vibrant, and thriving community.

We invite you to support this effort through sponsorship, donations, or by hosting a table at the event. We also encourage you to participate in the East Liberty Chamber's upcoming Shadowing Program, giving local teens just two hours of your time to learn about your profession and discover new possibilities for their future. The Chamber will be reaching out with further details about this program as it unfolds.

Thank you for your partnership and commitment to East Liberty.  To learn more about how to reserve a space for your company’s table, donate to this event and learn more about the Street Team, email director@eastlibertychamber.org or call 412-661-9660.

With appreciation,
District 9 Street Team
